Born in Fredonia, New York, on April 4, 1914, Andrew "Andy" John Russo passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on November 23, 2016 at Covenant Towers Healthcare Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Russo and his brother, Anthony Russo. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne Pullman Russo, daughters Christine Dix and Barbara Leake, his grandchildren, Kristen Cetraro (Dax), Allison Standiford (Adam), and Leslie "Skip" Dix III, his great-grandchildren, Louis "Louie" Dax Cetraro and Joseph "Joey" Andrew Cetraro, and his sister, Angeline Antolini.
Andy received a degree in Forestry from LSU, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Later in his career, he received an MBA from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. On June 5, 1942, he married the love of his life, Jeanne Pullman.
Andy was on active duty during three wars. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War, then later in Japan, and finally in Hawaii. Andy retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1964 after 24 years of service. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Andy and his family made their home in Fairfax, Virginia where he worked at the CIA as an Air Force Representative. They retired in 1979 to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and in 2003, Andy and Jeanne moved to Covenant Towers retirement community in Myrtle Beach.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Covenant Towers Healthcare Center for many years of loving care which they gave to Andy. A celebration of Andy's life was held at Covenant Towers on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
