To Blanch's family, May God bless you as you learn to live without this wonderful woman. I met Blanch over 20 years ago in a class at Coastal Carolina, and we formed a writing group that met for a long time in one of our homes. She had an aura of good that drew people to her, as it drew me. She has been my inspiration since those first days in class. Even though we did not see each other often, occasionally I would call her or she would call me. I will miss her, but I know that Blanch is with God, to whom she has been so faithful.

Dear Beth and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I did not here about it until I was in church the day of the funeral. I just wanted to let you and your family know how sorry I am for your loss. Your mother was one of my favorite teachers and I will never forget her sweet smile and her kindness that she showed to me and all of her students. I am a teacher now too and I hope that I have touched my students the way your mother has touched my life.

Sincerely,
Debbie Godbold Ropp

Beth,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I didn't get the news until Sunday morning or I would have attended her service. I have such fond memories of how she always spoiled us when the college crew arrived to stay in the guest house! Your parents were such a precious couple. Please take care. I love you. Please give John and the boys my condolences as well.

Blanche was an inspiration to me in my historical writing, and I shall miss her quiet presence and kindness. It was always a pleasure talking with Blanche. She was so modest yet she left us all a splendid legacy of local history through her well-researched books and articles.

I was out of town last week and just learned of Mrs. Floyd's passing. I do not recall a time when the Floyds did not live across the street from us. Grandmama Floyd tutored me in math and Mrs. Floyd taught my history class in 8th grade. I saw her not long ago and thanked her for passing me on to 9th grade. We both laughed about that. I love her books and will always admire and remember her fondly.

Mr. J.K. and all of you: We are saddened with you over losing Blanche. She was very, very special to me and often gave wise advice in several situations. We spent many Wed. nights riding to choir practice together, along with Lynn Sutton, and had pleasant visits.

May you be comforted with good memories and also knowing that she is now with her heavenly father.

Blanche Floyd was my Aunt. She came from a Family of 8 children, all of which were credits to the World, and Loved each other dearly, everyday of their lives. She, along with her sisters, Annie Mae, Leona and Mary and Brothers, John, Walker, Roy (my namesake) & Bill, (who was my father), were the quintessential American Family. Along with them, is,JK Kirk Floyd, who with the Williams' Brothers resembles all things of Goodness that can be said. This Family is and was The Best of what America should be. They would blush at and be in silence to me saying this...for they would never say such a thing about themselves. Their Father and Mother,
(my grandparents) taught them not to boast or place themselves above anyone. As a President once said...
"All boats rise with the tide"..
This is an example of how the Williams and Floyd Families felt about all... Their best intentions were extended always, to everyone, they knew. Blanche, was soft of voice, sweet of view, and warm of heart. She carried with her the truth, that shone within her eyes. Her smile, was as a Welcome, cast, by the morning sun. She along with her siblings, created an atmosphere of caring, sharing and love. As they all came from humble beginnings...as their Father was a Minister of God...and they told stories of their childhood days...
The echos of their future were created by the concerns for one another. Blanche emulated this life through her writings, which there are many of..Through her books of "Gentle Persausion" and "Tales along the Grand Strand", she shared this wonderful American story, for all to read. It was a lesson to let the world know that a time such as this, should never pass, but only be passed on... to the generations of our future...
I am so proud of my Aunt Blanche, and all her family. I hope that anyone that was ever touched by her, will know to cherish, the sincerity of heart, and gentle nature of love she bequeathed to all.

I met Mrs. Floyd a number of years ago at a book signing. It was a pleasure, after reading her historical writings for such a long time. She was indeed a lady, little of stature, but large in her knowledge of local History.
