Bobby Geddings Obituary

SUMTER | Bobby Joseph Geddings Sr., 62, husband of Loretta Hodge Geddings, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home in Sumter.



Born Sept. 30, 1942, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Clifton and Beatrice Barkley Geddings Peebles. He was retired owner and operator of Bob's Appliance Service in Sumter, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Bethel 13 Fire Department.



Surviving, besides his wife of Sumter, are a son, Bobby Joseph "Joey" Geddings Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Sumter; a daughter, Lisa G. Powalie and her husband, Jimmy, of Myrtle Beach; five brothers, Clifton Geddings of Augusta, Ga., Phil Geddings, Tommy Geddings of Sumter, Jerry Geddings and David Geddings of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Betty Moore of Alpharetta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Abbie Geddings, Nicholas Powalie and Kyle Powalie; a godson, Jamie Hodge.



Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, in the Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Burgess and the Rev. G. W. Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road, Sumter, and at other times at the residence, 4205 Lisa Drive.
