Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Donald Ollis, 93, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Grand Strand Medical Center. He was born in Palmyra, Indiana, on August 14,1931, to parents Florence and Clyde Ollis. He was married to Doris J (Deerr) Ollis for 72 years.

Don was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean war. He served in the Air Force as a GI and civilian for over 39 years, spending his last 13 years on the Test Team & development of the A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft. He was also active in the Masons, Consistory & Shrine, serving as Director of the Tidewater Square & Compass Club at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He was also Secretary, Treasure & President of the Omar Rebels & the Waccamaw Shrine Club in Conway.

He is survived by his sister, Patti Walker of Palmyra, IN; daughter, Evelyn Thompson of High Point, NC; twin granddaughters, Devon Thompson and Diane (Stephen) Gillespie of Raleigh, NC; great grandchildren, Magnus and Rowena.

He was preceded by his wife Doris, parents, brothers, and sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Blue River Lodge #457 Located in Fredricksburg, Indiana.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway.

I met Don in the late 70s .We had a instant connection and would visit each other homes.Ask Don a question and he would answer with a different head shake.TRY IT. get behind that green truck he would put turn signal on different from what he turned,i would tell him his turh signals were screwed up, finally caught on.Don always offered a beer,I will drink one for you. .what a good friend and man. RIP DO

Don was a great friend of mine. We worked together at MBAFB, he as a Tech Rep on the A10 aircraft and I was the NCOIC of the 354th EMS Fuel System Shop. Don was fun guy and a great teacher of life! I have known Don for over fifty year´s.
He wil be missed by many!! R.I.P.
