I went to High School with Mack and he was a great guy. We were pretty good friends and have known each other since kindergarten. I searched for him online recently and found that he had passed. I guess "only the good die young" has some truth, because Douglas was definitely a good one. That boy was so funny, and his smile always lit up the room.

I lost touch with him after high school, but knew he was destined to do well in life. My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to his family, he will indeed be missed.

May 17, 2008

My name is Rasheed Norman and was stationed with Mac back in 1995-1997 in Virgian VA-75. The news of Mac's passing is hard to take because I had been trying to find him since I got out the navy in 99. It was funny when we "Mac and myself" found out that we were cousins while on deployment in 96. My mom (Gwendolyn Joyce Livingston) who passed back in 2005 was cousins with his mom and that tripped us out cause we never knew. From that point on we was family. Mac I'll forever miss you, the most cool, calm playa I've ever known. My preyers are wwith you and your family.

This last week was real hard on everyone....Mac you have so much love around you. When your birthday came, I tried to be strong. I knew in any circumstance you would want me to be happy... but I couldn't be, I miss you too much. Talking to your family and friends was the only help that got me through it. Your mother is the strongest. I really, deeply know what you came from. You are one of a kind. Keep looking after all of us:)

It's never easy to enter a new year, or celebrate a holiday when someone you were with the year before is gone. Mack, I'm missing you so much... As your birthday comes near, and the holiday draws close; all I can think of is what is missing. You... You stll have people here who love you, and miss you still. I have to apologize to you for not doing what you asked me to do by keeping tabs on Nasir like I said I would do. You promised me to do the same for my girls. It just seems as though so many things are out of order since you left. What should I do... I haven't seen Nasir in a while, but I know Tori is taking good care of him so don't worry... He's in good hands. Things are just different now that you aren't here. Mrs. Mattie and Pop Doug are okay, they are in good spirits, but nothing will ever replace you... Bern is keeping the family together and I know if you were here you would be proud of how he has maintained not only himself but how he has kept everyone else around him balanced. I can't even begin to explain to you how your presence is missed. I know you are in a good place, doing good things. You are loved... Always will be... I don't know how I should feel Brother... I miss you. I know that when people read this they will wonder what was my motive: There is none...or who is this guy: Your Water Brother... That's the answer... Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday(hope you like the flowers), and Happy New Year. "In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me". Psalm 120:1 I love you... Eric M...

I would like to send my deepest sympathy for the family of Mack Hatch. I served with him on the JCS. Mack was the first one ever to teach me how to take a fuel sample and always looked out for me. I was shocked when I heard of his passing. He was a great man!!!

I was one of "MACK'S" right hand mans from 1997-1999, Chris "SHY" Simmons. I cant believe that someone so unique has left us. Mack and I were very close in the few years I knew him. I was born and raised in Bennettsville,South Carolina, not too far from Mack. Unlike most guys that hung together on the Stennis, I think we had a lot in common with simular backgrounds and somewhat taste in lot of things than most. Mack was..The Mack.. he was like the brother I never had and like a brother he taught me a lot of things, kept me out of trouble-when I could I kept him out of trouble ..I will miss Mack but will never forget him.. I LOVE YOU MACK. Ya BOI "SHY"

To the family of Douglas M. Hatch Jr.:
I only knew your beloved son, brother, father for a short amount of time. In the time I grew to know him, he was wise beyond his years, he taught me so many life lessons. I worked with him in San Diego for a little over a year. One lesson that I remember like it was yesterday was; he said never let anyone see you sweat, also hold your head up with diginity and grace, people will also respect you more. Mac, your memory will live on forever and in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers. Hatch family, God had a vision for Mac's life & Mac answered that vision. May God continue to bless you. You will always be in my prayers.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

I was station with Mack back in 96-98 on the John C. Stennis he was a guy that quickly became click. His personality and wittiness to go along with that east coast (Jersey) lingo made him an easy man to befriend. My prayers good out to the Hatch family and to all his friends with love. Big Money.

Naquan Johnson

May 23, 2007

To the family of Mack Hatch:

Hello, My name is Naquan Johnson and I would like to take this wonderful opportunity to say thank you for allowing me to be a part of your son's life and for raising a caring, considerate young man. Mack and I met back in 96-97 onboard the USS Stennis and have been the best of friends ever since. Before our ship departed Norfolk, VA for San Diego, CA we drove to S.C. where, I had the pleasure in meeting I believe it was his G-mother and other people in his family. Mack and I shared alot of time on and off the boat where we talked about issues from being single men without any kids at that time, to now being new fathers and leaving a legacy. I can't really put in words how devestated I was to hear that one of my best friends is gone, and I didn't get a chance to say good bye...Me and few other friends are planning a trip in July-Aug to visit his grave site and it would be an honor if I can meet Mack's family once again, because I have plenty of pictures to show them of he and I and all of the rest of his closest friends from the Navy.
Continue to be bless and remember that Mack is only gone from here in the physical but not in the spiritual.

Ed Green

May 23, 2007

To the Hatch Family,

I would like to first say that I’m very sorry for your lost of Douglas "Mack" Hatch and that I will be prayer for the family in your time of mourning. My name is Ed “Tex” Green; I was stationed in VA with Mack on the John C. Stennis. We worked together in the fuel division, back in the 1990’s. After I got out of the Navy, he came out here to Seattle WA to visit me, Chris “Shy” Simmons, and Roderick “Money” Johnson; they were also on the Stennis in the V-4 division. I remember that day like it was yesterday because we kicked it tough out here. We had a blast showing him the town and going out to the clubs, but never thought when we said goodbye the day he left, it would be goodbye forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, kids, parents and the rest of his family. Mack will be truly missed but never forgotten!

ISAIAH 43:1-3
. . ."Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; . . .

NAHUM 1:7
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

May 18, 2007

My name is Jermell Woods. My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Douglas “Mac“ Hatch. I first met “Mac” onboard the USS Enterprise while we were on deployment about 10yrs ago. We talked and joked around all the time while I fueled his planes. I saw him again while we were stationed in Greece and he turned out to be one of the best friends I have ever had while in the Navy. Mac was real, he was honest with his friends, he spoke his mind and he had a great heart. I will never forget the fun I had with him arguing about sports and life because he was never wrong. ( smile ) The Lord doesn’t make mistakes and we can’t question his actions, I know he is in heaven putting smiles on faces like he did here.

Traci Rodgers

May 16, 2007

My name is Traci and I was stationed with Mac in Souda Bay, Greece. I have so many fond memories of Mac but I'd like to share the one that stands out the most and is dearest to my heart. The base was on lock down for an exercise and I was standing watch with Mac. We talked about a lot of things(music..food.. how hot it was outside in our gear..etc..) but we talked mostly about you, his family. He was especially proud of his sons, he even had pictures to show me! We talked throughout the entire watch, just laughing and making time fly by. Though our converstion lasted a pretty long time, I knew from the start of it that he was a good Man, Son, Brother, Father, and Friend. I will forever hold him in my heart. My prayers and condolences go out to you, his beautiful family whom he loved very much. God Bless You All.

To The Hatch Family:
My name is Kellee Reed and I would like to send my deepest sympathy and prayers to you all. I was a close friend of Mac's and I can't begin to express about how proud he was of his family and where he came from. I am so glad that God has blessed me to know your son. There are so many words to describe Mac, but he had such a charisma, that it leaves me speechless. I pray for his sons, God bless them and let Mac's loving strength carry on within them. Everyday hurts without him, because he always made me smile. From the bottom of my heart and soul: I Love You Mac....you will always be MISSED and NEVER be forgotten.
