Elizabeth Bottomly Obituary

"Betsy's" highly animated, contagiously laughing body died on March 26, 2010, but she lives on in the presence of Jesus and of all her deceased family and friends who loved Him. Betsy was active to the end! As an 88 year old activity coordinator, she worked at the Litchfield Lakes retirement center through this past August. She has been a faithful worshipper at All Saints Church, a happy part of the Salt Marsh Cove "loop," and a regular "9-holer" on the Pawley's links. She has personified "Stay positive and stay vertical!" At the core, she was a lover of God and lover of people.
Betsy was born to Charles and Dorothy Simpson at Ft. Monmouth, NJ on July 5, 1921. At 23, she joined the Red Cross and went to the south Pacific to care for our WWII troops. She was a military wife for 30 years before "retiring" in Boulder Creek, CA and Pawleys Island, SC. She would say her greatest achievement was raising 5 kids, all of whom loved her dearly and enjoyed her life-giving affirmation throughout her life.
If she could speak today, she'd say, "Thanks for the wonderful memories… and for the kind calls and cards during my last days with you. Let God love you and save you. You should see what I'm doing now!!"
She is survived by her four children [Roc, Kirk, Sheri, and Kris] and preceded into the Lord's presence by her daughter, Viki. She has 12 grandchildren and 10 "greats."
In lieu of flowers, respects can be sent as contributions for orphan care to "Elizabeth J. Bottomly" at Bank of America, 333 N. Bryant Av, Edmond, OK 73034.

She was a wonderful woman who loved God. She so influenced my life that I named my oldest daughter after her.

Dear Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. I met Betsy just the one time, but she sounds like she lived an active and happy life, and I am sure all of you gave her much joy.
Peace, Phyllis L. Bottomly
