Everett Kiff Obituary

LITTLE RIVER | Everett Arthur Kiff, 74, of Little River died Friday, July 13, 2007 at Loris Hospital following an illness.

Everett was born in Utica, New York and raised in Bath, N.Y., the middle of three children born to Frank and Virginia Kiff.

Following his high school graduation from Haverling High, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Stationed in Key West, Florida, Everett served his country on the heavy cruiser The Baltimore.

Following his years of service in the Navy, Everett pursued his college education and graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in physical education and recreation. Everett spent the majority of his career nurturing students and student athletes at Haverling High School in Bath, N.Y.

He spent many years as a football coach, but the pride of his coaching career came from the many years he spent as a successful swim coach. In the fourteen years that he coached, he possessed the highest number of team wins of any coach in the region at that time with a career record of 215 wins, 22 losses and 1 tie.

Following his retirement, Everett relocated to South Carolina to be near his family. His retirement years were spent traveling with his wife and friends, making wine in the Finger Lake region of upstate New York, golfing and wood working. One of Everett's most memorable attributes to friends, family and neighbors was his undying sense of humor.

Everett is a 60 year member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Bath, N.Y.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Alice Lander Kiff, of Little River; his son, Mark Everett Kiff and his wife, Angelika Kiff, of Greer; his daughter, Kimberly Kiff, of Myrtle Beach; sister, Meredith Silvy and her husband, Kenneth; and three grandsons.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Lee Funeral Home in Little River. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a brief prayer service at 7 p.m.
