Gabby Parks Obituary
Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Emil J. "Gabby" Parks 98 passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the Myrtle Beach Manor.
He was born April 18, 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio. a son of Michael E. and Mary Edmund Parks. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Wake Forest University. He was Director of Purchasing at Hanes Corporation in Winston-Salem, N.C. and Guilford Mills in Greensboro, N.C. Gabby was former President of Winston-Salem Purchasing Association , Winston-Salem "Old-timers" and was a member of the Civitan and Jaycees. He moved to Myrtle Beach in 1979, and was associated with the Myrtle Beach Hilton for many years. The Gabby Parks Thanksgiving Golf Tournament was held at Arcadian Shores Golf Club in his honor for twenty three years. He was a member of the Myrtle Beach Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of seventy seven years, Evelyn "Dee" Parks, his son, Phillip Haddon Parks (Lynn) of Durham, NC, three grandchildren, Jennifer Craven (Tom), Kristin Boles (David), Gregory Parks (Christine) and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, December 30, 2012, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Steven Guy officiating. Private entombment will follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Myrtle Beach Church of Christ, 4500 Wild Iris Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
