How can I really miss someone I haven't seen in person since 1997? Uncle Mitchell, I miss our phone conversations so much. I regret not seeing a relationship with my uncle sooner so we could have had so many more. I love you.

Rear Admiral Highfill was a great person and leader. I remember I went to captain mast after being on the USS Belleau Wood 12 hours. LOL. He dismissed my case because it didn't make any sense why I was there. He helped me become a better person. I wish I could have met him again. Thank you again for everything. You are truly missed.

I can't believe it's been two years already. We became reacquainted for only a short time. Even so, I sorely miss our talks. I enjoyed being able to call you up and just say hi. I really enjoyed knowing you cared. I love you and I miss you.

Thinking about the many Naval Officers who showed kindness I decided to look up RADM Highfill. I was aboard his ship (USS Guadalcanal)during Op Provide Comfort. He would say hello to me each morning as I prepared for day ashore. He was truly a wonderful Officer and Human being.

Of all there people that I met and worked with in the USN, Mitch Highfill was, in my opinion, the best pilot I ever flew with. Not only that, our first responsibility as officers, was to take care of our personnel. That, he excelled at and anybody who ever met admiral Highfill will tell you the same. He was a person that you looked up to and wished to emulate. I feel very privileged to have worked with him and am saddened so very much at his passing.

We served together and because of His standards I can honestly say I became a better person.
