Isla Mae Lewis, age 83, wife of the late Daniel Odell Lewis and of North Oak Street died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at her residence following a courageous fight with cancer.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Conway, a daughter of the late George Malcolm and Georgie Lily Powell Rheuark. Mrs. Lewis was a military wife who followed her husband to Air Force bases in Hastings, Nebraska, Killeen, Texas, and Key West, FL. She was formerly employed by Waccamaw Elementary School in Conway and the Pan American Hotel in Myrtle Beach.
Surviving are: James "Bubba" Lewis and wife Jackie of Myrtle Beach; one daughter, Dana Odell Lewis of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Mason, Jarrett, and Georgia Lewis; and a twin sister, Bertha Hughes of Conway.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday from Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Hord officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-2794 or to the charity of one's choice.
