James "Jim" Daniel Ayers, Jr.
Loris
James "Jim" Daniel Ayers, Jr. age 85, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017.
Mr. Ayers was born in Spartanburg, a son of the late James Daniel Ayers, Sr. and the late Annie Rose Taylor Ayers. Following years of service with the US Air Force during the Korean War, Mr. Ayers began a career in the Oil & Gas industry, before retiring and starting a craft business with his wife, Shirley. Mr. Ayers was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Anne Metts Ayers, and one son, James "Jimmy" D. Ayers, III.
Survivors include his three children, Donna Kay Walker of Beaumont, TX, Tammie Ayers Trevathan of Loris, SC and Thomas Ayers and his husband, John Murphy of Philadelphia, PA; one grandson, Robert James Trevathan; and four brothers, Don Ayers (Jo), Larry Ayers (Crimora), Wayne Ayers (Cathy) and Jerry Ayers (Brenda).
Mr. Ayers was a member of Living Water Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Living Water Baptist Church with Rev. Lebron Crisp and Rev. John Goudelock officiating.
Memorials may be made to Living Water Baptist Church, 1569 Highway 9 East, Longs, SC 29568 or to SECU Hospice House of Brunswick - Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane SE, Bolivia, NC 28422.
