James Ralph Mills (Jimmy), 50, went to his eternal resting place on August 16th, 2018, at his home in North Myrtle Beach, SC. James was born in Durham, NC, on April 25th, 1968, to Ralph & Gayle Mills of Wake Co. He attended Apex Schools until his Senior year and graduated from Enloe High School in Raleigh. It was at Enloe that he excelled in music and voice, receiving numerous praises and awards. James attended ECU before heading off to New York City to pursue his dream and love of music.
James returned home to the Raleigh area and began a career in accounting and business, working with a CPA firm for 25 years. He lived in Raleigh until 2013, with his partner of 22 years, and their fur-babies. James loved the beach and moved to Cherry Grove, North Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2014. There he started a new business, renovating and flipping houses. James loved living life big…he loved his Harleys, classic cars, riding Jetskis, and entertaining. Most especially he loved his friends and they loved him. James always had a hand to lend to a friend in need.
James was predeceased by longtime friend/family H. Sharpe Ridout, paternal grandparents Walter & Ida Mills, maternal grandparents Troy & Mildred Howard, step-grandmother Christine Howard, and god-mother Mary Hicks (Bomba).
He is survived by parents Ralph & Gayle Mills, Cary, sister Karin Mills & spouse Linda Bourne, Carrboro, sister Tina Mills, Pittsboro, his beloved dogs Lila Mae and Justin, and numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family.
There will be a celebration of James' life in North Myrtle Beach, SC, at a later date, TBD. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
