Joan Kowalewski Obituary

MURRELLS INLET | Joan Emily Kowalewski of Murrells Inlet died July 27, 2008. She was laid to rest on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

Joan was born September 17, 1919 in India, where her father worked as an engineer. The family returned to England and Joan worked for the English Parliament.

During World War II she worked for the Polish underground and met her future husband, Marian. After they were married they immigrated to the United States in 1950. She and Marian were married for 63 years until his death in 2005. Joan was buried with her husband in Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.

She leaves behind a son, Peter William Kowalewski and his wife, ''Trish''; a daughter, Barbara Ann Plaxco and her husband, Todd; three grandchildren, Christopher, Adam and Natalie. She also leaves behind her beloved feline companion, ''Crispy.''

Joan was a avid gardener and enjoyed dining out with her friends.

She will be missed by all.

We will miss Joan in our Spring Forest community. She certainly was involved, attending Activity functions and our monthly Ladies Luncheons. Joan always had a good story to share about the interesting life she led. God Bless and Comfort you in your loss.
