Joel Payne Obituary
North Myrtle Beach
Joel Clayton Payne, 67, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 20, 1946 in High Point, NC, he was the son of the late David Clayton and Reba Wharton Ellington Payne.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynne Pierce Payne; sons, Ean S. Payne, Brandon A. Payne; daughters, Cassie E. Creakman, Emily L. Payne; brother, Steve W. Payne; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Lowell D. Payne.
A celebration of Joel's life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, June 15 at 1300 North Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Embrace Hospice, 140 University Plaza Drive, Conway, SC 29529.

It is with my saddened heart that I write this. I worked with Joel at Norling Studios in High Point, NC for over 10 years. I do not think I could have ever worked there without him. I was a typesetter and Joel a graphic artist. He was always making jokes and made the coffee every morning. Chock full of Nuts. We were always cutting up and planning something not so employmental there, lol. I will miss you with all my heart and soul. Dear Lynne, Emily, and all of the Payne family:
It is with a very sad heart that I learned of Joel's passing. As childhood friends, Emily and I spent so much time together at the Payne house in Asheboro. Thinking back on those fond memories made with Emily, I can't even begin to understand how difficult it must be to lose a great husband, wonderful father and a simply good person. Dear Lynne and Family,
I cannot imagine what you must be feeling. We are going to miss Joel so much. I have such fond memories of him. He had such a great sense of humor and he'd make me laugh until my cheeks hurt. As a child, I wanted to be an artist just like my Uncle Joel. He was such a kind and sensitive person and always there for family. I'm so glad Luigi and the girls got to know him. Our love and support are always with you, and Joel is forever in our hearts.

Lynne, You and the kids have loss a great person and no words can stop the pain you are going thru but know as long as you keep his memory alive so will he. My heart is so heavy right now with grief and sadness. The world has lost a great person, you have lost the love of your life and Emily, Cassie, Ean and Brandan have lost a super dad. Dear Lynne and Family,
I am thinking of you and praying that God will help you through this terribly difficult time. Joel was such a special person! I can't think of anything he was not good at....art, music, mechanics. But more than that, he loved his family and was always there when anyone needed help. We had so many good times together that now are treasured memories.
