John Hughes Obituary

John F. Hughes, 79, of Indian Trail, NC, passed away, Monday, January 18, 2010 at Lake Park Nursing Home, Indian Trail, NC. Born in Philadelphia, John resided in Mt. Laurel, NJ and Myrtle Beach, SC for many years before recently moving to North Carolina. John was a graduate of St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He was a co-captain for the Hawks' basketball team and maintained a lifetime commitment to youth basketball. A US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, John retired from AAA in Haddonfield, NJ where he worked as an Insurance Claims Manager.
Husband of the late Anna Marie Hughes; he is survived by three children and their spouses, Francis and Kathleen Hughes of Cheshire, CT, Genevieve and John Buhlinger of Matthews, NC and John and Joan Hughes of Douglassville, PA; seven grandchildren, John Hughes, Shannon Hughes-Brown and Matthew Hughes, Kelly, Brian and Devon Buhlinger and Faith Hughes as well as a special friend, Doris Dingle of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Funeral Service will be held 10am, Friday, January 22nd at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown, NJ. The Rev. Patrick Castles will officiate. Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Friends may call Friday, 9am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Cancer Society of Philadelphia, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
