Joseph Magrane Obituary

Joseph Harold Magrane
September 30, 1961 - March 1, 2023
Surfside Beach, South Carolina - Joseph Harold Magrane, 61, died March 1, 2023, at his home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born September 30, 1961, in Garden City, New York, the eldest son of the late Joseph C. Magrane and Diane (Banvard) Magrane, formerly of North Bellmore, NY. Joe graduated from W.C. Mepham High School in 1979, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University in 1983, and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology in 1989. He went on to follow in his father's footsteps and became a Nassau County Police Officer in 1993, attaining the rank of Deputy Inspector before retiring in 2015.
Joe is survived by his mother, Diane Magrane; brothers, Glen (Joanna) Magrane and Kevin Magrane; and eight nephews and nieces, who were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. Magrane.
He will be laid to rest at a later date next to his father at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY. A memorial service will be held in New York at the time of his interment. McMillan-Small Funeral Home will be helping with the funeral arrangements; a tribute wall and an online guest book to sign will be available at www.msfh.net.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nassau County Police Activity League via their website.

Joe got to beach every day between 9:45 and 10:15 am. He knew everyone on that stretch of beach. He was nicknamed "Joe the Mayor" by us other local beach goers. That´s a reflection of his presence and of our respect for him. He was great company and a good buddy. He will be remembered and sorely missed.
