Louise Strayhorn Ramsbottom 98, passed away Friday September 9, 2016. Born September 4, 1918, in Durham, NC, a daughter of the late Ralph N. and Annie Cooper Strayhorn. She received her education at Durham City Schools and Duke University. She was married in 1943, to Dr. John G. Ramsbottom Sr. for 64 years until his death in 2007. Louise and Dr. Ramsbottom moved to North Myrtle Beach in 1975, where he practiced medicine for many years, and built the Lou-Gar Motel. She was a member of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church and an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. Louise was a former president of the Yaupon Garden Club, Coastal Creators, Book Reporters Club and the Surf Golf and Beach Club. She served on the Board of Directors for the Garden Club of SC for over 45 years, was a member of Accredited Flower Show Judge Club of SC, SC Landscape Design Consultants, former member of the Spartanburg Garden Council and Little Garden Club. She also served as a former president of SC Medical Alliance and member of the Spartanburg Medical Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Dr. John G. Ramsbottom Jr. and wife Gail of Myrtle Beach, SC and James N. Ramsbottom and wife Patrice of Austin, TX, three grandchildren, Nancy R. Mudd (FD). Dr. Garnett Ramsbottom III (Kathy) and Berkeley R. Cox (Garett), great-grandchild, DeSales Mudd IV, and Elizabeth Franks who has been with the Ramsbottom family for over fifty-two years. The family wishes to express their thanks to her special caregivers, Bee, Doretha and Lisa. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon), Monday, September 12, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum in Spartanburg, SC. A memorial service will be 12:00 (Noon), Tuesday September 13, 2016 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, PO Box 277 North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 or Regency Hospice, 600 Garden City Connector, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
