Marilyn Talbot Obituary

SALUDA, N.C. | Marilyn Bessent Talbot, 73, died, Friday, January 1, 2010 at her home surrounded by her children.

Born in Little River, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Mary Dell Gore Bessent and Homer Bessent.  She was the widow of Sam Talbot, who died in 1986.  Sam and Marilyn were originally from Myrtle Beach prior to moving to Saluda, N.C. in the early 1980's.  She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Don Bessent and Homer Bessent. 

She is survived by one son, Kim Talbot; three daughters, Deena Talbot, Karla T. Ward and Allyn T. Johnson.  Also surviving are four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

A private Celebration of her Life service was held by her children and friends Saturday, January 2, 2010 at her home. 

In lieu of flowers, Marilyn requested that memorials be made to the following charities she held close to her heart:  Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mountain Road, Columbus, NC  28722, Boykin Spaniel Rescue, Inc., C/O Katherine Garstang, National Donation Coordinator, 1624 Yorktown Dr., Charlottesville, VA  22901 or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC  28722.
