Marvin Fretwell Obituary

Marvin L. Fretwell, 79, died on January 1, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Fretwell was born on November 1, 1931 in Waynesboro, Va. He was the son of the late Harry Tucker and Hazel Madison Fretwell. He was a devout member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Conway. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired V.P. from Molson U.S.A., Foster's Melbourne, Australia Trade Relations Consultant. He helped to write the laws requiring education of the handicapped in N.Y. Mr. Fretwell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Rathburn Fretwell, also from Waynesboro, Va. He is also survived by his son, D. Tucker Fretwell of Stuarts Draft, Va.; daughter, Sarah "Sallie" Fretwell Metzger of Peachtree City, Ga.; son, Edwin "Ned" T. Fretwell of Wake Forest, N.C. and son Matthew T. Fretwell of Southern Shores, N.C. Mr. Fretwell was the proud and beloved grandfather of Devon, Kathleen, Hailey, Thomas, Samuel, Kailey, George, Charles and Caroline. Surviving Mr. Fretwell are his sisters, Betty Atkinson, Hazel Jones and Amelia Fauber; and his brother Thomas Fretwell, all of Stuarts Draft and Waynesboro, Va.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Tripp Jeffords officiating. Burial will follow in Waynesboro, Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 3, at the funeral home.
