Carol, Tom, Kara, Jacob, Terry, Mike and Ed,
Scott Foley came into the studio this afternoon and told me of Matt's death. I am so sad for your loss. Several of us were talking about all of the fun that we had with your family in the backyard aboard New River Air Station...cooking out and playing badminton....during the 80s when Ed was training and then working with us. Those were wonderful times that we enjoyed with all in your family. You will be in my prayers for God to ease your grief and supply you with strength to see you through this sad time. Matt was blessed to live his short life with such a loving and supporting family.
Sincerely.

To my Wonderful family, this was possibly the hardest thing we have ever faced as a family, together, but we will survive this, together!! We will have our bad days but we will take great comfort in knowing Matt will never have to suffer again. We will forever hold the loving memories of Matt in our minds and in our hearts. We all know we are but a phone call away from the strongest support a family could want so let us remember that and be there for each other. We love all of you so very much!!

Tom, Carol and kids......wow were are down here in Corpus in shock to hear of the death of Matt...We just read the 46 notes from friends and family and it sounded like he became a great man from the time we were all here in Corpus in the early 80s We can still see his "baby face" full of happiness. He always made us laugh and smile. We will never understand why the Good Lord takes our young..but it had to be because He wanted more happy people to be with Him...We know Matt is smiling down upon us all. Your families faith was powerful in the 80s and we know its as strong today...it will get you all through this...Know that we in Texas are praying for you all and Matt. We Love you all. |Tom and Carol and Family; We are very sorry for the loss of Matthew. Our deepest condolences are with you all in this difficult time where words are hard to express. We all knew and loved your "Matt." What a complete joy he was to everyone. You know he used to say both verbally and on paper a little expression behind his signature, "I love my mommy." Matt made us all laugh outloud or just silently with a smile too. Please remember that the Piotrowski Family will be in our thoughts and prayers now and the days ahead. Please let us know if you need anything. Loving the Waid Family.

Melissa DeJesus

February 18, 2009

Words cannot explain how I feel at this time. Do I begin by talking about the buzzing sound he used to make with his finger? Do I think about the times he spent teaching me how to drive on the air station? Or do I talk about the many times he made me laugh? There are so many things I could write about from our younger days, but I would be writing forever. What I do know is that Matthew Piotrowskil will be missed greatly. He will hold a special place in my heart and I will always remember our last conversation that took place on Saturday, February 14th. Love, Melissa

Shari McPeak

February 18, 2009

Kara, Mr. and Mrs. Piotrowski, and all of Matt's family,
Matt and all of you have been very much in my thoughts these past few days. I had spoken with Melissa DeJesus, a long time friend of Matt's, over the weekend and she told me of the disconcerting news delivered by the doctors recently. I hope you find comfort in knowing that Matt will not continue to endure the pain he was experiencing. The loss of such a young and genuinely good man is tragic and sad beyond the emotions words can adequately express. I remember Matt from Lejeune High School where I continue to teach and more recently, when Matt, Kara, and Jacob, then just an infant, came to my home when Melissa was visiting. Matt was someone with whom anyone could feel comfortable - he was a caring, friendly, and happy person who was very proud of his young family. I know all of you will continue to be proud of Matt. My condolences to each of you.
Most sincerely, Shari McPeak
