Michael Gilland Obituary
Surfside Beach, SC
Michael, 51, passed away September 5, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC. He was born April 8, 1967 in Charlotte, the son of Darryl and Liz Gilland. He was a graduate of Socastee High School and Carolina School of Broadcasting. He spent most of his career in sales and distribution management with Better Brands, Schafer Distributing and Ben Arnold Corporation. Butter was very outgoing and made many good friends throughout his life. He is survived by his parents; his daughter, Rivers Gilland; sister, Missi (Brad) Collins; nephew, T.J. Gillenwater; niece, Madison (Tyler) Conover; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A casual memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 1:00pm at Discover Church, conducted by Paster John Schafer. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Butter, it is requested that any donations be made to Discover Church, 700 Hwy 17 Business South, Lorraine Plaza, Suite E, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.

Butter will always be the big brother I never had. His wisdom and views of liffe I still reflect on. No matter what the circumstance he always saw the positive and even now me posting this he still is teaching me something. He is the strongest fighter and lover of life Ive ever met. Oh Butter, I cannot think of a better friend that I ever had. You were there in the good times and bad. You were the sole reason I met my wife when you took my motorcycle and made me ride yours to meet you at the parrot. That night I met Kathy and 3 days later I asked her to marry me.
