Raymond A Starr, 93, passed away December 18, 2016.
Ray was born in Bayonne, NJ. After graduating from Clifton High School, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska where he met Lois who was also serving in the US Coast Guard during World War II. After marrying Lois in 1946, they settled in NJ.
Wherever Ray lived he was always a member and a leader in a church community. Ray had many sales jobs before working for Allstate Insurance. Once at Allstate Insurance he worked for 27 years as a sales agent in the Wayne and Pompton Lakes offices. When Ray retired he and Lois moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC. In more recent years they returned to New Jersey to be closer to family.
Ray was predeceased by his wife Lois M Starr (nee Dripps) of 67 years and brothers Joseph and Arthur. He is survived by daughters Barbara and husband Paul Gucker of Bedminster, NJ, Gail Hruby of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and son David and wife Karen Starr of Highland Lakes, NJ. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in South Carolina in the spring.
