Richard Morris Obituary

Richard Rubin "Dick" Morris, Jr.
Myrtle Beach
Richard Rubin "Dick" Morris, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, entrepreneur and philanthropist, died on Sunday, November 30, 2014 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was 83 years old. Richard was born May 25, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Pauline Ehat Morris, and his two brothers, Mr. Ronald F. Morris and Mr. James Morris.
Richard married his wife, Beverly, in 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland and worked as self-employed truck driver, service station owner and car dealer until 1973, when they relocated to Connellsville, Pennsylvania. There, he was a revered business man, owning several automotive businesses throughout his 12 years in residence there. He also served the community as president of Connellsville Rotary Club, and fundraised every Christmas season to feed, cloth, and provide presents for the needy children of Connellsville. He was a great donor to the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the Salvation Army. Richard purchased land in Myrtle Beach in 1984, and relocated to the area permanently in 1985 where he continued to own automotive care businesses and donate to police and fire organizations, children's charities, and veterans' causes until his health prohibited him from doing so.
Richard loved football and loved golf; he was a frequent participant in many amateur, pro-am, and charity tournaments. He loved airplanes, and was a licensed pilot, and he loved to travel.
Most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife and companion of 52 years, Beverly Clark Morris of Myrtle Beach, as well as his three children, Mr. Ronald Lee Morris and his wife, Marie, Ms. Bobbi Lyn "Boo Boo" Heinbaugh, and her fiancé Lyn Cribb, and Ms. Tami Rae Morris Burnsworth, all of the Grand Strand area; his six grandchildren: Jeffrey, Amanda, David, Stephanie, Ronald, and Sheila; and his seven great-grandchildren Victoria, David, Aidan, Cooper, Neal, Sloan, and Caeda; and his best friend and caretaker, Mr. Jan Serra.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Richard's most supported charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in his name.
