Sandra Schwartz Adams, 69, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born December 7, 1941 in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John William and Marjorie E. Butler Harton.
Sandra graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1960. She was a Court Reporter in Charlotte, N.C. and Washington, D.C. during the Watergate trials. She was a dance participant in the 1982 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga., and very involved in the Shag World for 40 years. She was Female Dancer of the Decade 1980's, member of the North Myrtle Beach Hall of Fame 1991, member of the Board of Directors O.D. Pavilion Social & Shag Club, Honorary Member of Charlotte H.O.F, member of Living Legends and National Living Legends.
Sandra is survived by her husband of six years, John "Dennis" Adams of North Myrtle Beach; three sons, Rusty, Harry, Jeff; daughter, Robyn, stepchildren, John, DeeDee, Deke, Jeff, Lance; two sisters, Barbara Richardson Ennis and Judy H. Smith; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Susie Rentschler.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the Church of the Lost & Found at O.D. Pavilion in North Myrtle Beach, with Rev. Beaver Greenway officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hall of Fame Foundation, c/o Eddie Monsour, P.O. Box 4070, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.

Still thinking of you. Still missing you so much, but you know that, don't you? My dear friend - so many memories and I smile when I remember...well, most of them. I learned to say no to your "we'll take your car- I'll drive". I think Robyn burned that picture of me getting you into your wedding dress. That was a classic! And getting a midnight call to come get you and Dennis on your wedding night, because you were bored. I still hear your laugh and wish so much, to hear it in person.

My first remembrance of Sandra was dancing with her during the first Shaggers Hall Of Fame event. I will always remember that night. She was a sweet and beautiful lady who never met a stranger. Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family.

Karen and I were very saddened to learn of Sandra's passing. I met Sandra about 15 years ago through a mutual friend from Charlotte and I felt I truly made a friend for life. She was like that with everyone she knew. Later, I was priveleged to meet Barbara and Robin. I'll sure miss Sandra's big smile, outgoing personality, the inciteful conversations and those very special dances we shared at the beach.

Where does one begin when someone is taken so suddenly? How do we understand it; how do we process it? We know that in our lifetime some are going to go before us and others will go after us, but it doesn't explain how we are supposed to handle it. All I know for sure is that God doesn't make mistakes...and surely, God was with Sandra every step of the way. She is now in a place that we all aim to be when our time on this earth is done. She suffers no more for anything. She feels no loss, no sadness, no pain, no discomfort. She is surrounded by the many that have gone before her and she is joined with her Heavenly Father. She entered that Gate at the exact moment God needed her to be there. Her smile, her energy, her zest for life will radiate among all the other angels. I am proud to have been in her company and will remember her with such fondness until I see her again.
To Dennis and her family, may your memories of Sandra override your sadness, but feel free to cry when you need to for her hands will touch your face to wipe them away and you will feel her forever close to you.

Words cannot express how saddened we were to hear this news. I still can't process it completely. Sandra was the most, one of a kind, vibrant, loving, caring person we've ever met.
We were married at one of her homes and

First of all I thank the family for sharing Sandra with us for so many years. She was a true friend and allowed people from all circles to enter her life. Her laughter and the fun she surrounded herself with will be sorely missed. My favorite dance partner, never met a man who could lead as well as her! I was 1st introduced to Sandra thru mutual friends in the Shag World back in the early 80's... She loved what we called "Gospel Shag" and I made some of the music for her on a couple of occasions. She was "truly a classy lady." I'm sure she is "Dancing Up The King's Highway..!!"

Words just can't express what Sandra meant to so many people. There was so much love that she had to give to us, and she did so freely. I can only hope that in my lifetime, I can make half as many people feel as loved and welcomed as she did. Sandra's feelings were so genuine, and everyone that knew her, felt that.
When she smiled, she smiled with not only her lips, but also with her eyes. That gleam is going to be missed so much.

Sandra and I were not close friends, more like acquaintances, but I enjoyed being around her and even had her doing some depositions at the law firm in Charlotte where I worked. I know this is going to be very difficult, losing Sandra, but God will be with you during this time of sorrow.

Sandra was described to me and the "Best Female Dancer to ever wear shoes", I met Sandra in 1999. She was was very kind, gracious and always had something good to say - with a winning smile and twinkle in her eyes like no-other. I met Sandra in the mid 70's at Groucho's Beach Club in Charlotte, NC. She was so willing to help me learn to dance and was so easy to learn from. Sandra certainly was one of those special people who always had a word or a smile for everyone she met. She was one of a kind on and off the dance floor and was loved by everyone who knew her. There was no better female dancer ever and her unique style will never be duplicated. A beautiful lady, a faithful friend and a wonderful dancer. It's difficult to accept that she is gone from the physical world. However she will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Love and support goes out to Dennis and the family.
