Taylor Benton Obituary

Taylor Ann Benton
May 7, 1991 - December 23, 2015
Columbia, South Carolina
Columbia – God gave the gift of life to Taylor Ann Benton through her parents Eddie and Sabrina Benton, as they welcomed her into this world on May 7, 1991. Taylor was reunited with her Creator and Savior on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 following a car accident in Columbia, SC.
In 24 short years Taylor lived a full life with lots of laughs, courage and great love.
Taylor adored her brother, Hunter Benton, and her sister, Spencer Benton Quinlan. They loved spending time together including their family dinner together just hours before Taylor's death.
Taylor graduated from Ben Lippen High School in 2009 and from the University of South Carolina in 2013. She then followed her dream of working in the fashion industry and moved across the country to work at Nordstrom's in Palo Alto, CA.
God provided for her every step of the way, including recently in providing a wonderful church and Bible study group. Jesus had become real to Taylor, and now she sees Him face to face.
Along with her immediate family, Taylor is also survived her brother-in-law, Tim Quinlan, her grandmothers, Evon Benton and Mary Catherine Hardee, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved and cared for her.
A celebration of Taylor's life will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street in Columbia, officiated by Dr. Derek W. H. Thomas and Dr. Mark McDowell. Visitation with the family will follow in Jackson Hall. A private committal in Greenlawn Memorial Park will precede the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Taylor loved children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center, 2009 Hampton St., Columbia, SC, 29204.
To all who loved Taylor, thank you for your expressions of care and compassion this week. We will miss Taylor and look forward to being reunited with her in the presence of the Savior who loved her and called her into His arms.

I don't understand why God would take Taylor from us.
The room was always lit up when she was there. She was one of the funniest gals I had the pleasure of knowing. We worked together at Norsdtrom in Palo Alto and we shared times at my home for thanksgiving-we laughed so hard at the dining table,at the golf course-Taylor wore black combat boots, and at the pool we laughed and drank our vodka drinks. Loved her, never a dull moment. Until now, I will miss you Taylor, God took you too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. Thanks for always brightening my day! Love you, Lali

The first time I met you was when you ventured across country to join the Nordstrom Retail Internship program in Palo Alto. You came with your "southern charm", infectious smile and outgoing personality! Taylor, you left this earth way to soon. You will live in our hearts forever. God bless you and your family.

It still doesn't seem real, Tay. My heart breaks for your family and close friends. High school would not have been the same without you and Casey acting crazy, making everyone laugh every day :) You sure could light up a room. Our family is praying for yours, they'll have so much love and support. You'll be missed so, so much.

Eddie & Sabrina, our hearts ache for you over the loss of your dear Taylor. We take our seats beside you on the mourner's bench and weep. We rejoice with you that Taylor is in the presence of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, but we know the pain of this temporal separation. Know that we will continue to lift you before the throne of grace. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" (Psalm 116:15),
With our love, tears, and prayers,
Jim & Barb Benecke. St. Louis, MO

I'm at a loss Tay. All I know is my heart is aching for my girl back, I know the Lord called back his angel & that brings me a sense of peace. I know you're in a better place but I selfishly wasn't ready to give you up. I remember the last time we talked & how happy you were, that brought me comfort to know you were okay. That was all that mattered. The many memories we have together I'll never forget. You will forever live with me in my heart, I love you Tay, & to the Benton family you will forever be in my prayers. I send all my love your way, continue to watch over us Tay, I know I'll continue to look up to you.

I had the privilege to work with this fireball and very funny girl. Taylor had a way of being the life of the party and could light up any room she walked in. I shared plenty of laughs with her. I have definitely missed her presence at work and will a little while longer. My positive thoughts and prayers are with her sweet family. She was such a beautiful being in and out. We miss and love you TayTay

I knew Taylor through her parents. I have never met a young lady who was so full of life. Every time she visited her dad she made me laugh. We would talk about our love for animals and how she reminded me of myself when I was young. I always felt happy whenever I saw her. I know she will be missed mor than words can say. My heart goes out to her family.
