Virginia Nordstrom Obituary

Virginia Howard Nordstrom
Myrtle Beach
Virginia Howard Nordstrom died at home the morning of February 18, 2012 after surviving cancer for many years. She had a long and loving relationship with her husband Art of 59 years. Art cared for her with amazing grace, love and care. They both graduated from Virginia Tech and married on their graduation day in 1953. Together they raised four children - Mark, Michael, Arthur III, and Angela. Artie III passed away from cancer in 1986. Ginny had a wonderful life bringing together family and friends.
She is also survived by a large extended family - Mike and Debbie Nordstrom - grandchildren, Jeremy, Carlyn, and Lauren; Mark and Bonnie Nordstrom - Michelle Nordstrom Beard and Johnny Beard, grandson Stefan Nordstrom; Cindy Nordstrom Glass and Ron Glass, grandchildren Arthur IV and Yvonne Wenger Nordstrom, Jesse and Missy Reidy Nordstrom, Morgan Nordstrom O'Brien and Daniel O'Brien; Angela Nordstrom Rivas and Timothy Rivas, grandchildren Zachary and Madison Rivas; Michelle and Brianna Strang; Christy, Sean, and Tori Weeks, Marissa, Markel, and Jaden Strang; sister-in-law Neala Carter and her family Jan Carter, Harry, Lee and Allyssa Warren. Randy, Denise, Haley and Aaron Carter; and many other family members.
The family wishes to thank our many friends at Trinity and First Presbyterian Churches for their love and support.
We are also grateful for our long standing friendship with Barbara Burnside and her recently deceased husband Rev. Jerry Burnside of Fayetteville, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 21st at the First Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, in Myrtle Beach. A Guest Book is available at www.myrtlebeachfuneralhome.com

Art, Mike, Mark, Angela and their families,

The service today was most appropriate; Ginny would be humble but would be very proud of each of you. I can see her presence in her children and I can identify the grandchildren by the stories she has told us through the years. Although having been removed by distance and somewhat by age, I have always felt part of your family. Your brief visits to Virginia have always been a treat for Charles, myself and my family. Ginny set a high standard in the measure of courage and dignity she showed through her illness. She was an example for me to follow as a child and she certainly will continue to be an inspiration to me. Art, we watched the loving care you gave to Ginny. It appeared to be so effortless on your part. We will be thinking of each of you and hope to see you soon. Linda and Charles
