William Fowler Obituary
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH | William Larry Fowler, 65, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2008 surrounded by his family at Loris Hospital.
Born in Columbus County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Isadora F. Fowler.
Surviving are his father, William ''Cha'' Fowler of Tabor City, North Carolina; a daughter, Bridget Annadora Fowler; his wife, Renea Anderson Fowler; three sisters from Tabor City, North Carolina, Alice F. Porter and husband, Levi Porter, Billie F. Lancaster, and Peggy A. Fowler; sisters-in-law, Gaye A. Davis and husband, Mitch, and Marijon A. Procise and husband, Ted; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Anna Anderson of Sumter; stepdaughter, Heather Booth Edwards and husband, Todd Edwards, of Oakboro, North Carolina; nephews, Jeff L. Porter and wife, Kathy, Jody Lancaster, Lance Porter, John Mitchell Davis, Christopher Davis, and Kyle Procise; and nieces, LaCha Goff and husband, Kim, Lauren Porter, Meghan Davis, and Kayla Procise. Numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles also survive him.
Words are hard to describe the way Larry touched so many of his family and friends. Larry, known on the beach for decades, has owned numerous local favorites over the years such as The Blue Marlin Cafe, The Blue Marlin Yacht & Fishing Club, and presently H. B. Spokes Saloon. With a love for the saltwater fishing, Larry held Annual Frantic Atlantic Kingfish Tournaments with support from his friends and sponsors, Hydra-Sports and Chevrolet, to bring support for charities and his community. Larry fished professionally for the last 10 years of his life from North Carolina down and around the coast to Texas. Larry has touched many fishermen along the way that are a part of his wonderful legacy. Larry has rallied on countless occasions to assist others in difficult times and need.
After an awful fire at his business in September, 2007, Larry promised the people he would rebuild and the legacy of H. B. Spokes Saloon would prevail. Once again, Larry kept his promise and reopened H. B. Spokes on April 25, 2008. Larry will be greatly missed by not only his family but all the wonderful people that he came in contact with during his journey through life.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at Lee Funeral Home. A reception will be held at H.B. Spokes Saloon immediately following the visitation.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Inman Funeral Home, Tabor City, N.C. Burial will follow in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City, N.C. The Rev. Bobby Cartrette will officiate.

We did not know Mr. Fowler personally, but are sad to hear about his death. We were so impressed with his decision to continue to pay his employees after his establishment burned down, we knew that he was a good man.
