Joan Schnabel Obituary

BEDFORD, Ky.-Joan Oak Schnabel, 83 of Bedford, died Sept. 22, 2015 in Trimble County. She was born on November 27, 1931 to the late Elmer and Marie Stethen Oak in Prestonville, Ky.
Joan was a faithful member of Bedford Baptist Church and a graduate of Carrollton High School, Class of 1949, also a graduate of Bryant and Stratton College in the area of secretarial administration. She served as an executive secretary for the Department of Emergency Services in the state of Arizona. Her greatest joy was getting to spend time with her loving family and friends. She enjoyed reading, playing bunko and dominos with her friends in her local community. Joan found great joy in traveling and finding a peaceful camping spot to enjoy nature with her late husband Raymond.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved children; Dr. Lee Schnabel and his wife Lisa of Santiago, Chile, and Lt. Col. Raymond Kent Schnabel and his wife Sherry of Chantilly, Va.; her brothers; Dalton Oak (Deah) of Bedford and Jerry Oak (Cecilia) of Bedford; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many loving family and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving parents and her husband Lt. Col. Raymond C. Schnabel.
Services for Joan were held Friday, September 25, 2015 at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, with Dr. Lee Schnabel, Reverend Ferrill Davis and Reverend Daniel Wrightman officiating the services.
She will be peacefully laid to rest with her beloved husband in the Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon missions fund through the Bedford Baptist Church, Bedford, Ky.
