Died: January 21, 2023 in Ottawa, IL
Alice Jean Spierling, 84 of Streator passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home, Ottawa.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, with Pastor William Callister officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to services.
Alice was born May 27, 1938 in Streator, a daughter of Walter G. and Clio B. (Clayton) Branz. She married Donald K. Spierling on August 21, 1960 in Streator. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2022.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey (Christine) Spierling of Kangley and Todd (Kara) Spierling of Rockford; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Terry Branz of Janesville, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Don Branz.
Alice was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Streator. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Streator National Bank.
Alice was a selfless person who always put the needs of other ahead of her own and helped everyone she could. She liked the simple things in life, playing the piano and picking up sticks in the yard. She was always involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
