Died: September 23, 2025 in LaSalle, IL
Charles "Charlie" Johnson, 76, of La Salle, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in LaSalle.
A graveside service will take place at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 7, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
Charlie was born May 12, 1949, in Sterling, IL to the late Wayne and Barbara (Lilly)Johnson. Charlie was a proud Air Force Veteran. While in the Air Force, he served as an airplane mechanic. He received the National Defense Service Medal in appreciation for his time served. When he returned, he worked for Libby Owens Ford for many years.
He is survived by his siblings, Mary Love, Marcia (Dick) Rissman and Ted (Renee) Johnson; his sister in law, Sue Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; his life partner, Karen Leiteritz; her children, Ron (Karen) Leiteritz, Barry (Kari) Leiteritz, and Christopher (Erica) Leiteritz; as well as his grandchildren, Koral Leiteritz, Lexis (Brandon) Buckley and Madison and Raelee Leiteritz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Barbara; and his siblings, Jean (Richard) Brooks, Ed Johnson, Dave Johnson, and Steve Johnson; and his step-son, Kevin Leiteritz.
Memorial contributions in Charlie's honor may be directed to any military associated group, such as the American Legion, VFW, etc.
