Dale J. Wilkinson, Sr.
Born: March 18, 1947
Died: August 19, 2022
Dale J. Wilkinson, Sr. 75, of Streator passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Born March 18, 1947 in Streator he was the son of Edward and Leona (Mehall) Wilkinson. He married Karen L. Holmes on September 3, 1966 in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Wilkinson of Streator; sons, Mark Wilkinson of Streator, Matt (Nellie) Wilkinson of Streator, Mike (Sheri) Wilkinson of Ottawa and Dale (Nicky) Wilkinson Jr. of Lutz, Florida; a daughter, Sarah (Ozzie) Guillen of Lemont; grandchildren, Ian (Isabelle Boyle), Derek, Maggie, Murphy, Quinn, Cooper, Elle, Ally, Kailey, Addison, Sadie and Makenzie Wilkinson; Adela and Ozzie Guillen; a great grandson, Cole Wilkinson; sisters, Janice Patterson of Shorewood, Mary Ann Miller of Lostant, Leona (Ken) Majernik of Streator, Brenda (Willie) Horaney of Bettendorf, Iowa and Linda (Greg) Dzurisin of Heyworth; brothers, Tom (Georgia) Wilkinson of Henry, Larry (Mary Jane) Wilkinson of Streator and David Wilkinson of Streator; and a sister in law, Monica Wilkinson of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon Wilkinson and a brother, Jim Wilkinson.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1965.
Dale worked for 47 years as a union pipefitter with Chicago Pipefitters Local 597. He began his career in 1965 in Streator, working as a plumber for Bliss Plumbing. In 1977, taking his own shot at the American dream; he co-founded Midwest Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in Henry, Illinois. Dale spent the last 12 years of his career as the President of Midwest Mechanical Contractors, retiring in January of 2012.
He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and even had a chance to meet Coach Mike Ditka through the years.
He loved buying his Lottery tickets and playing Euchre with his friends.
He was a member of the Central Church of Christ and also was active with the Men's Bible Study.
Dale will be dearly missed by his loving family.
Memorials may be directed to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
