Donald W. Traeger Sr., 85, of Streator passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the ARC of Streator.
Private family burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born January 26, 1938 in Streator he was the son of Carl and Alvina (Hombuecher) Traeger. He married Judith A. Potter on August 2, 1967 at Immaculate Conception in Streator. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2019.
He is survived by daughter, Nicole (Tim) Geary of Streator; a son, Donald (Melinda) Traeger Jr., of Florida; grandchildren, Tristen Geary of Streator, Donald (Jacqueline) Traeger III of Florida and Elizabeth Traeger of California; a great grandson, Jaxon Traeger of Flordia; a great granddaughter, Peyton Traeger of Florida; and his loyal dog, Patches.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Ruth Anne Henne, Bea White and Sr. Alvina "Lil" Traeger; and brothers, Ralph and Jim Traeger.
Born in Peoria Don was raised in Streator attending Streator grade schools and Streator High School.
He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing as a Crew Leader for many years retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen's Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a member of the Streator Knights of Columbus.
Through the years Don enjoyed antiquing with his wife, doing puzzle books, watching Western movies and following his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the any Pet Shelter or the Wounded Warrior Project.
