Eileen Ann (Rogowski) Riota, 89, of Peru, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at her home.
A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with Rev. Gary Blake, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley. Visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with recital of the Rosary at 9:15 AM.
Mrs. Riota was born January 28, 1934 in Waltham Township to John W. and Johanna (Grobelny) Rogowski. She was a graduate of Marquette High School in Ottawa. She married Paul James "Jim" Riota on September 6, 1958 at St. Mary's Church in Utica. He passed away on March 22, 2014.
Mrs. Riota was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, LaSalle for many years and was currently a member of St. Joseph's Church, Peru. She was a member of the Oblates of St. Benedict, affiliated with St. Bede Abbey. Mrs. Riota worked as a private secretary for many years, including Louis Gerding Architecture, several banks, Deer Park Country Club and Queen of the Holy Rosary Church. She especially enjoyed fishing with her husband in Wisconsin.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Jo Douvia of Ottawa; four brothers, William (Janice) Rogowski of Peru, Richard (Joanne) Rogowski of North Aurora, Robert (Nancy) Rogowski of Ottawa, and Larry (Linda) Rogowski of LaSalle; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, John, James, Edmund, and David Rogowski.
