Gary Alan Gahan, 64, of LaSalle passed away at OSF St.Francis Medical Center Friday, September 24, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 30 at 10:30 in St. Hyacinth Church. Reverend Tom Otto Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday September 29 at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle from 4 to 7.
Additional visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:30 until the time of services.
Gary was born on June 19, 1957 in Ottawa to William and Mary (Serby) Gahan. He married Kathleen Maggio, on April 4, 1982 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Utica.
Gary enjoyed spending time with family and friends and living life to the fullest and without regrets. He loved his sports, from playing basketball in the barn growing up with his 3 brothers and sister, to the big stage at St. Bede, where he excelled, to cooking out on Sundays and watching the Bears play with his family and friends. He was gifted with the ability to loosen people up and make them feel comfortable whether he knew them or not.
Gary was proceeded in death by his brother Larry Gahan, his brother-in-laws, Arty Derix and Mike Payne.
Gary is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gahan; three children, Dena Hicks, Jason Gahan and Lynsey Stanmar; two son-in-laws, Jamie Hicks and Nick Stanmar and one daughter-in-law, Amy Gahan; six grandchildren, Grace, Liv and Anna Gahan; Mason Parker, Jesse and Brianne Hicks and three great grandchildren Blue, Opel and Harmony; one sister, Laurie Quinn; two brothers, Bill Gahan and Daniel Gahan; three sister-in-laws, Sue Payne, Dolly Derix and Sue Gahan and one brother-in-law, Hugh Quinn.
