George M. Stash
Born: December 31, 1943 in Streator, IL.
Died: June 29, 2025 in Rockford, IL.
George M. "Mickey" Stash, 81, of Streator passed away peacefully Sunday, June 29, 2025 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 9th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, July 8th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Mallaney, Tristin Paul, Natalie Williams, Mollie Lawless, Steven Lawless and Violet Lawless.
Born December 31, 1943 in Streator he was the son of George and Viola (Worrells) Stash. He married Carol M. Christoff on May 15, 1971.
He is survived by is wife of 54 years, Carol Stash of Streator; a daughter, Monica Stash of Streator; grandchildren, Tristin Paul of Streator and Mollie (Steven) Lawless of Minot, North Dakota; great granddaughter, Violet Lawless; grand dog, Radar Lawless; a sister, Sandi Drake of Lacon; brothers, Andy (Jane) Stash of Henry, Gene (Christine) Stash of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tom (Patty) Stash of Gridley, Dan (Rose) Stash of Streator and Eddy (Debbie) Stash of Ottawa; a special family friend, Heather Skoirechet of Oglesby; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Todd Stash.
Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator schools and Streator High School.
He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company and later at Knoedler's Manufacturing from where he retired.
He was a member of the former St. Stephens's Church, Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles # 645.
George was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed rooting on his teams. He loved music and never missed a night at Jammin at the Clock in downtown Streator. He never missed his grandchildren's soccer games or sporting events. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
