Glenna Nelson Obituary

On August 9, 2025, Glenna Nelson, aged 100, of East Wakefield and North Hampton, NH, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Glenna was born November 2, 1924, eldest of three daughters, in Lawrence, MA to Ralph and Lillian Draper. Predeceased by husband, Richard, and son, David, she is survived by children, Richard Jr., Ginny, Cindy, Beverly, and Jo; grandchildren, Sarah, Caleb, Mari, Danielle, and Nicole; and great-grandchildren, Jenna, Sam, and June.

Raised in Andover, MA, Glenna attended Simmons College. She met Richard on a blind date. Married in 1948, they lived in North Hampton for 35 years and were members of the United Church of Christ.

After retiring, they relocated to East Wakefield for 32 years and were active with the First Congregational Church of Wakefield. Glenna participated in the Parish Helpers and helped start the Shepherd volunteer ride program and a local bus service.

Glenna enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, and motorcycle touring with Richard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the First Congregational Church of Wakefield, NH (2718 Wakefield Rd.) at 2:00 p.m., followed by a burial at Lovell Lake Cemetery, Sanbornville, NH.
