Jerome L. Comisky, 83, of Lostant, Illinois passed away peacefully at 2:28 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Morris Hospital, after a battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 31, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lostant. The Franciscan Friars will officiate. Burial will follow immediately in the St. John's Cemetery in Lostant, with full military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Lostant.
Jerome "Jerry" Comisky was born August 21, 1942, in Lostant to Leonard and Cecelia (Rother) Comisky. He married Mary Ellen Schaub, the love of his life, on January 7, 1967, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kickapoo, Illinois.
Mr. Comisky was a lifelong resident of the Lostant area, moving from the surrounding countryside to town in 1971, and a graduate of Lostant High School. He enjoyed his career as a purchasing agent at Westclox in Peru, Bassick in Spring Valley, and TransTechnology in Peoria. He was employed in later years as a security guard for Guard Mark. An extremely intelligent man, he encouraged his sons to pursue degrees in electrical engineering and was proud of their success. He passed along a love of woodworking and games to them as well.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lostant and served as Trustee for many years at St. John's.
A proud veteran, Mr. Comisky served his country with the Ordnance Company of Vietnam during the Vietnam War from October of 1964 through October of 1966.
A good neighbor and friend to many, he volunteered his time as umpire and clock keeper for youth sports leagues in many surrounding communities. He volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician and served with the Lostant Fire Department for most of his adult life and acted as Commander of the American Legion Post 173 in Lostant. He also served on the Board of Trustees for the City of Lostant for over a decade.
He is survived by two loving sons, Dan (Janet) Comisky of Shorewood and Dave (Amy) Comisky of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Caden, Corinne, Cody, and Demi; two sisters, Dorothy Applebee of Peru and Mary Lou Legner of Pontiac; and twenty-one nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, and wife.
