John A. Shaver, 70, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, January 24 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Clark of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene officiating. Military Honors will follow services at the funeral home.
He was born on January 12, 1952, in Ottawa, to Kenneth and Joan (Reifenberg) Shaver. On January 5, 1972, he married Carla Hicks of Marseilles who survives.
John served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Shaver Auto Sales for over forty-five years until his retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed working at Precision Car Wash for the last eight years. John also loved to play golf with his friends and watch his favorite TV show, Gun Smoke. He was a devoted husband, dad, and grampy to his little Midgy.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-years, Carla; his son, Chris of Palatine; his daughter, Candi of Marseilles; his granddaughter, Karlee of Marseilles; a sister, Gloria Manning of FL; a nephew and niece, David and Tammie Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul.
