Leanne I. Torchia, 93, of Henry, passed away Friday January 12, 2024, 4:30 am at her home in Henry.
Leanne was born October 22, 1930, in Lenore, Il to William Henry and Inez (Loy) Long. She married Joseph J. Torchia on May 14, 1949, in LaSalle, IL. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2005.
Leanne and her husband, Papa Joe moved to Henry in 1976 when they purchased Henry Harbor Marina. In 1983 they built Henry Harbor Inn and in 1993 they purchased yet another Marina located in Lacon. They sold Henry Harbor Marina in 1996 and moved their focus to the Lacon Marina until 1998 when they decided it was time to retire. Retirement was not a word in Leanne's vocabulary so she continued to run Henry Harbor Inn until the age of 82 when her family finally convinced her it was time to "actually" retire. After retirement Leanne loved cooking and spending time with her family. She enjoyed sitting on her deck watching the birds while overlooking the Illinois River. Leanne along with her husband Joe's hard work and dedication, made Henry Harbor Marina the "Go-To" place along the Illinois River and helped to cement Henry as "The best town in Illinois by a damn site". Leanne and Papa Joe's legacy, will be remembered for generations.
