Margarete Anna Fessler, 97, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Pavilion of Ottawa.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 7th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Father John Waugh officiating. Interment will follow in DeBolt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Larry, Timmy and Richard Fessler, Jim Shaughnessy, Scott Fuller and Mike Howard.
Margarete was born May 31, 1925 in Steger, Germany, a daughter of August and Agnes (Kanthak) Proch. She married Lawrence Ermil Fessler on June 30, 1947 in Augsburg, Germany. He preceded in death March 27, 1993. Margarete is survived by her children, Rosemarie MacDonald and Carolyn Fessler of Ottawa, Garry (Brenda) Fessler of Wedron and Larry Fessler of Morris; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, granddaughters, Dawn Shaughnessy and Susie Armstrong and daughter-in-law, Sandy Fessler.
Margarete was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she served as Chaplain. Margarete was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
