I just learned of Maureen's passing today. Maureen and I worked together at family services America in Milwaukee. We became really good friends and when she moved to Florida, we talked maybe 10years ago and she said I should come out and visit and how beautiful it was there. She was enjoying St. Pete.

Today i was in a store and there was a lady that reminded me of her so I decided to look her up, and found that she had passed. She was one classy lady very beautiful, very smart with a warm smile. she loved her children and grandchildren.

My condolences to the family and I'm glad to have known her. Brenda

I feel very blessed to have had a kind and loving Mother. My Mom genuinely cared very much for myself and my sister, Erin. We had an excellent childhood. There was always plenty of love in our home.

As a kid growing up, I remember Erin and I always being well taken care of. We always had food to eat, a roof over our heads, warm beds to sleep in, and parents who encouraged us to work hard and be kind to others. Our Mom did an excellent job of raising us, while our Dad was a kind and loving provider also. At that time, I thought this was something that all children had. I have learned through later years that this great upbringing which I received, is sometimes just a hope and dream for many kids today.

My Mom really inspired me to go back to college at age forty-five. She did the same thing in her life, returning to school at thirty-five. Unfortunately, when I restarted my journey, this was about the time when she first became sick. She did still continue to help me though, as I communicated with her about my progress in school and asked her for advice when faced with challenges. My Mom very well may have helped me even more as an adult than she did when I was a child. Most kids are not lucky enough to say that. My Mother had helped me to grow up in more ways, and at different points in time, than I ever could have imagined. The good that came out of my Father passing away in 2011 was that I had an incredibly improved relationship with my Mom. She gave me plenty of love, encouragement, kindness, and heartfelt concern for my best interests, even when her own health was failing.

I really love you Mom. I absolutely miss you very dearly. I feel very fortunate and incredibly blessed that I was able to spend the last three days of your life with you. I wish you the greatest eternal happiness that is possible for anyone. Please continue to watch over Erin, Zach, Tate, and myself. I will never forget how truly kind, loving, sweet, and understanding you were to all of us. You were an absolutely wonderful Mother! My goal is to try and continue to make you proud of me, for as long as I am lucky enough to be here. God Bless You Mom!!

Chris, Erin and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Maureen Wahl. The loss of a parent is heartbreaking.
I was lucky to meet your mom a couple of times in Florida and to see her in family photos. Maureen was a beautiful woman and a voracious reader. I especially enjoyed listening to the family stories she shared with me. It was clear that your mom loved you and was proud of you both, as well as Alex and Tate.
While it may seem that your mom did not recognize you by looking at you and saying your name towards the end of her life, I truly believe that inside of her, she knew you were near her.
I found a quote (author unknown) that I hope brings you some peace and comfort as you grieve. “A mother is with us always, first in her lifetime, then forever in our memory.”

My heart goes out to you.
