Ralph W. Coyle Sr.
Born: May 12, 1946 in Chicago, IL
Died: May 26, 2025 in Maywood, IL
Ralph William Coyle Sr., 79, of Marseilles, passed away on May 26, 2025, at Loyola University Medical Center.
Funeral services honoring Ralph's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Pastor John Patterson officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday.
Ralph William Coyle Sr. was born May 12, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Edward and Kathryn (Mason) Coyle. He grew up in Chicago and Burbank, Illinois.
Ralph was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a successful businessman; first opening Hi-Way Towing and then Tri-State Truck Service.
In 1991, Ralph followed his dream and moved his family to his beautiful farm in Seneca, Illinois. He was actively involved in the community as the Precinct Committee Man of Brookfield Township. Ralph was one of the founding members of the LaSalle County Landowners Association.
An avid fisherman, Ralph was looking forward to crappie fishing on his new boat.
At the time of his passing, Ralph lived in Marseilles with his beloved wife of almost 60 years, April Ann Coyle. Ralph and April raised five children: Cindy Coyle-Schipiour, Tracee Coyle of Sycamore, Ralph Coyle Jr. Of Marseilles, Sarah (Matt) McAlpine, and Meredith Alderman.
Ralph is also survived by sisters Chris (Bill) West and Pat (Tim) Osborne; brother Edward Coyle; grandchildren, "Hey you guys!" Christopher and Peyton Schipiour, Jared, Dayton, Bryce, Eastyn, and Brooklynn Coyle and Hunter, Madilynn, Maverick and Josie McAlpine. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Cindy and Meredith, and a sister-in-law Bunny.
Ralph was a man of many words and stories. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his wisdom, knowledge, mentoring, and stubborn ways, along with his love of fishing, land, family and friends.
