Robert DeBlock Obituary
Born: December 8, 1932 in Kewanee, IL.
Died: January 9, 2026 in Peru, IL.
Robert J. DeBlock, 93, of Streator passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Manor Court in Peru.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. Friday, January 23rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Streator.
The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born December 8,1932 in Kewanee, IL to Joseph and Mary (Standaert) DeBlock. He married Marit Wangelin June 4, 1955 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kewanee, IL. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2025.
He graduated from Visitation Grade School in Kewanee and with the class of 1950 from Kewanee High School. Post high school, he served in the United States Air Force for a short time, before returning home after his father passed to provide for his family.
Robert worked at GTE- Verizon Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1990. His last held position was District Service Manager for the Streator area.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club, where he served as a board member and press reporter and received the Paul J. Harris Award. He was a third degree and life member of the Knights of Columbus in Streator, IL. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Streator, later of St. Michael's.
He is survived by his sons, Alan (Mary Eggleston) DeBlock of Troy, IL and Michael (Mary Dzurisin) DeBlock of Batavia, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer DeBlock of Edwardsville, IL, Jillian (Scott) Thole of Breese, IL, Julie DeBlock of Highland, IL, Father Matthew DeBlock of Batavia, IL, Mark (Kristen) DeBlock of Batavia, IL. and David (Anita) DeBlock of St. Charles, IL; great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ava Klein; Elizabeth and Michael DeBlock; Elsie Thole and Tatum DeBlock.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marit; mother and father Mary and Joseph DeBlock; and sisters Donna Junis, Francis Sleaford and Dolores Siemers.

I had taken care of both Bob and Marit here at Manor Court, and they were both exceptionally kind, funny, and gentle souls. Bob will be greatly missed here, and I am sending much love and condolences towards his family.
