Robert Allen Small Sr., 83, of Seneca, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home.
Due to Covid in 2020, services were limited for Robert's wife, Gloria Jean, so visitation for both Jean and Robert will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 10 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca.
Robert was born on March 12, 1942, in Morris, IL, to Jesse and Ruth Small. Robert had three siblings, Josie, Vernon, and Eileen. He married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Penoyer, on September 9, 1961, at the Methodist Church in Seneca. Jean preceded him in death in 2020. Together, they raised four wonderful children.
Robert was employed at Caterpillar in Joliet for 38 years until his retirement. He loved his family especially watching his grandchildren play in sports and going to the race track to see them race. He also enjoyed watching his westerns on TV.
He is survived by his four children, Robert Jr. (Eartha), Rick (Stephanie), Rhonda (Dave), and Randy; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jon, Robert III, Rachel, Rene, Matt, and Blain; and eight great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Josie, and a brother, Vernon.
