Died: January 12, 2024 in Hinsdale, IL
Sharon E. Armstrong Yedinak, 75, of Streator passed away Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at St. Thomas Hospice, Hinsdale, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator, with Rev. Bill Callister, officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator and from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator.
Pallbearers will be, Tom, Eddie, Kolton and Sean Armstrong, Ron Humphrey and Bill Diehl. Honorary Pallbearers will be Debbie Porter, Sheri Berry and all of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Yedinak was born, January 24, 1948 in Streator, the daughter of Clifford and Ida (Anderson) Scott-Chamness. She married Ronald G. Armstrong on February 24, 1968 in Streator. He preceded her in death March, 9, 1989. She then married David N. Yedinak on January 9, 1994. He survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Tonya Armstrong; Streator, two sons, Tim (Pam) Armstrong, Utica and Todd (Lara) Armstrong, Streator; grandchildren Jordan, Kristin and Ashlyn Drysdale and Hailey, Nicole and Sean Armstrong; great grandchildren, Collin, Grant, Zaydan, Emilio and 2 more on the way. Surviving also is a brother, Cliff (Sharon) Scott, Texas; Stepchildren, David A. Yedinak, Brenda (David) Decker and Michelle (John) Cinotto, all of Streator; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; stepsisters, Cathy Fieldman, Gardner and Nancy Peak, Wauconda. Many special nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband; a daughter, Tammy Rae in infancy, sisters, Karen Armstrong and Eva Humphrey and stepfather, Ralph Chamness.
Sharon had been employed at Guzzardo's Book Store for 22 years and by the Streator Grade School system serving lunches for 9 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member of Council, sang with the Choir, taught Sunday school and was a member of the women's sewing group. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading on her enclosed deck and especially spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1966.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Shriners or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
