Shirley Johnson Obituary

Died: April 5, 2024 in Ottawa, IL
Shirley V. Johnson, 85, of Seneca, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Phillip Peterson of Stavanger Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Saratoga Cemetery in Morris.
Shirley was born on June 6, 1938, in Morris, IL to Otis H. and Evelyn (Thompson) Virgo. In 1956 she married Ron Johnson of Seneca who preceded her in death in 2006.
Shirley retired from Seneca High School where she was a secretary for 26 years. She was a 4H leader and a member of the Seneca Fire Department Auxiliary for many years. Shirley was a very talented cake decorator and made many wedding cakes. Shirley enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home and wintered in Arizona for many years. She enjoyed collecting dolls and loved flowers of all kinds (especially pink ones).
She is survived by her son, Kett (Joy) Johnson of Seneca; an honorary granddaughter, Dr. Pam Treat of Memphis, TN; one sister, Jean (Jim) Johnson of Naperville; and two brothers, Richard (Donna) Virgo of Seneca and Jerry (Phyllis) Virgo of Oswego.
Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Rondee; her husband, Ron, and her parents.
Her nieces and nephews will be pallbearers.
