Rodney Borwege Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Medford Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.
Rodney Wayne Borwege, 65, of Medford, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 7, 2026. He was born on March 27, 1960, to Roger and Florence (Schmitz) Borwege. Rodney attended school in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1978, where he enjoyed participating in many sports, particularly basketball.

As a young man, Rodney cherished spending time with his grandfather on the family dairy farm, where he especially enjoyed helping with baling hay-memories he fondly carried throughout his life.

Rodney devoted nearly 30 years to Cemstone in Medford, where he was known for his dedication and hard work.

Affectionately known by his nickname "Hot Rod," Rodney was well known in the community for his 1966 Mustang and 1978 Ford LTD. Over the years, he also enjoyed owning many trucks, with a particular fondness for Ford trucks. In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping, playing bean bags, watching sports and spending quality time with family and friends. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, and his zest for life, sense of humor, and fun-loving nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Rodney is survived by his children, Alex (Justina) Borwege, Megan Borwege, and Trevor Borwege; his grandchildren, Grayson, Norah, and Waverly; his brothers, Don Borwege, Doug (Kim) Borwege, Jeff (Michelle) Borwege, and Jerry (Carrie) Borwege; his sister, Michelle (Chris) Ditlevson; many nieces and nephews; and his significant other, Marcia Prestegard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Florence Borwege.

Friends may greet the family from 3:00 - 6:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Medford Funeral Home (310 Central Avenue, Medford, MN). A Celebration of Life will follow at the Medford Municipal.

Rodney's family will forever treasure his memory and the joy, laughter, and love he shared with all who knew him.
