null Boutte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory - Broussard on Feb. 28, 2026.
Barbara Gail Delahoussaye Boutte

January 28, 1936 - February 26, 2026

&

Calvin Joseph Boutte Sr.

April 20, 1933 - June 3, 2011

Barbara Gail Delahoussaye Boutte, born January 28, 1936, passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 90, reuniting with her beloved husband, Calvin Joseph Boutte, Sr., born April 20, 1933, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2011, at the age of 78.

Born and raised in St. Martinville, Barbara and Calvin built their love story where it first began. Married in 1955, they spent 56 years side by side creating a home rooted in faith, family, hard work, and laughter. Though separated by time following Calvin's passing, their story only paused until they could be reunited once more.

Together, they raised three sons, Calvin Boutte Jr. (Anita), Kirk Boutte (Mary Ruth), and Craig Boutte (Shannon). Through them came the generations they treasured most; their grandchildren, Ernie (Lanette), Todd (Emily), Sarah Guidry (Derek), Dayton (Brooklyn), Danice, and Amber (Shane); and beloved great-grandchildren, Drake, Addison, Louis, Lily, Mayson Clair, Daniel, Siah, Lilly, Shane, Sophia, and one precious blessing soon to arrive.

Barbara is also lovingly remembered by her godchildren, Troy Champagne and Sharon Delahoussaye; Barbara's siblings, Karen Champagne (Preston) and Kenneth Delahoussaye (Judy); along with Calvin's siblings, Paul Boutte and Margarette Estellette (Allen), and Allen Boutte. At the time of Calvin's passing, he was also survived by his siblings Zeben and Luna Melancon, who have since joined him in eternal rest.

Also preceding them in death are their parents, Ernest and Mable Champagne Delahoussaye and Alphonse and Lillia Blanchard Boutte; Barbara's brother, Ernie Delahoussaye; as well as Calvin's siblings, Bob and Angelle Boutte.

Barbara and Calvin shared a joy for living that naturally drew people toward them. Cajun music rarely played without finding them on the dance floor, where they moved together with ease until they no longer could. Long after the music faded, their partnership remained steady and true.

Barbara found happiness in caring for her flower beds, reading, playing dominoes, and gathering faithfully with friends for Tuesday coffee visits she dearly anticipated. She loved conversation, laughter, and staying connected with family and friends by phone. Known for her bright spirit and playful humor, Barbara carried joy wherever she went and cherished above all her role as grandmother and great-grandmother.

Calvin spent his career as a welder, respected for both his skill and his character. Social by nature, he never missed an opportunity to visit, laugh, or spend time among friends whether at the racehorses or surrounded by loved ones. His friendships spanned generations, reflecting a man who valued people and cherished connection above all else.

Their lives remind us that love is found in evening dances, family gatherings, laughing and enjoying each other's company. They are and will be missed deeply.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Barbara and Calvin Boutte on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM, with a prayer service to follow at 5:00 PM at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Road, Broussard, Louisiana 70518.

Together they lived.
Together they are remembered.
