Ronald Eugene "Jake" McGinn of Battle Creek, MI Jake, age 80, died Friday evening, January 29, 2016 at the Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center, Springfield, MI, following a lengthy illness. Jake, the son of Harley and Evelyn (Glynn) McGinn, was born in Battle Creek on March 21, 1935 and was a lifetime resident. He served his Country in the United States Army and was an Iron Worker on construction sites throughout the United States. Jake started in the Golden Gloves and became a Professional Boxer in the late '50's and early 60's. He met many interesting people during his boxing days and at his construction sites. Jake enjoyed drawing and playing the harmonica. He was a member of the Battle Creek Eagles Aerie # 299. Surviving is his daughter, Anita White and grandson, Justin of OK; two sisters, Virginia L. (Paul Vaughn) Budd of East Leroy, MI and Ann A. (Hugh) Garity of Bellevue, MI; his brother, Harley D. (Michelle) McGinn of Battle Creek and many nieces and nephews. Jake was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Faron McGinn. The Graveside Service to celebrate Jake's life will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township, with the Rev. Don Francis, Pastor of the Bellevue First Baptist Church, officiating. Jake's family will greet friends on Wednesday from Noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jake's honor may be directed to the Evergreen Senior Care & Rehab Center, 111 Evergreen Road, Springfield, MI 49037 or the Bellevue First Baptist Church, 122 S. Main Street, Bellevue, MI 49021.
