A. Janette Bretz, age 90, formerly of Sandusky, OH, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Westover Retirement Community in Hamilton, OH. She was surrounded by her loved ones and tended to by a caring team of Westover and Hospice of Cincinnati staff.
Jan was born June 12, 1935 in Kissimmee, FL. She was an energetic walker, enjoyed cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, took pleasure in growing roses, and loved to build jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.
Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard H. Bretz, in addition to her parents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her son, Richard L. Bretz, daughter-in-law Stacey Lowery Bretz, and her three grandchildren, Suzannah, Tessa, and Mikaela.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5pm - 7 pm at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at 11 am in the Middle Bass Island Cemetery, 131 Lonz Rd, Middle Bass, OH.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jan's memory with a lasting gift may do so by contributing to either the Westover Retirement Community, 855 Stahlheber Road, Hamilton, OH 45013 or to the Hospice of Cincinnati at https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate/
